Liverpool Dealt Blow In Hunt For Attacker

The Liverpool Echo is reporting that Liverpool's hopes of signing Brazilian forward Alex Teixeira have taken a hit after the Shakhtar chief executive told Liverpool to forget about signing him.

 It has been widely reported that Liverpool have weighed in with two bids so far, however both of those have been lower than Shakhtar would like for their main man.

It was initially thought that Shakhtar were resigned to losing the frontman, however it is now thought they wish to keep him until the end of the season at least. 

 It has been reported that Shakhtar wanted around £36m for the Brazilian star, but chief executive Sergei Palkin has now claim that Teixeira's release clause is in fact much higher.

 This story has evolved into one of the sagas of the January transfer window, the question is - will Jurgen Klopp eventually get his man? Let us know!

    They won't get him as long as Ian Ayre is involved in negotiations. Did he not know the full details of his contract. I wouldn't send him on a message for a bag of sugar!

    We will never get him and by the summer he will be in Chelsea's sights.
